This piano night grants access into two worlds. The romantic, melancholic and sensitive first half of the programme begins with a ground-breaking piece — Vladimir Ryabov’s nod to the legendary pianist Maria Yudina.
The Goldberg Variations, filling up the second half of the evening, is a baroque masterpiece that was rumoured to have been written as the evening solace for an insomniac count. Babayan is considered one of the world’s best and more substantial performers of that piece.
