The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is one of the world’s best, most unique chamber orchestras. The orchestra was formed in 1958 by Sir Neville Marriner of London’s leading musicians and was named after the eponymous church in which it gave its first concert. This legendary orchestra is known for its bright, fresh, nuance-rich interpretations and by concerts which were given with special energy and dedication. The orchestra is known and beloved around the world. Its concerts are sold out years in advance.

The orchestra’s art-related work is currently being led by the musical director and virtuous violinist, Joshua Bell, who contributes to the collegial spirit and flexibility of the small composition which is making music without a conductor – something which has become a trademark of the orchestra – as a soloist and concertmaster.

The concert in Estonia is led by Julia Fisher, top violinist on the world stages whose cooperation with the orchestra has lasted for more than twenty years and has taken her to perfection in terms of her musical understanding, as well as in terms of her shared energy on stage. She will also perform here as a soloist.
Fisher is a diverse musician, someone who is also an exceptionally talented concert pianist (!), chamber musician, and violin teacher, in addition to her brilliant career as a violinist. This concert has an immense performance geography and an exceptionally tight and diverse schedule, one which incorporates some of the most remarkable fellow musicians of the modern era.

Such a concert in Estonia will be a highlight of our musical life for many years to come.
