The Haapsalu White Nights Music Festival carries the spirit of the Tchaikovsky festival and embodies the yearning for a romantic and carefree summer, filled with beautiful music.
The festival has a prominent place in the Estonian cultural summer scene. Its high-quality and diverse music program offers a variety of events that appeal to both music connoisseurs and holidaymakers. The highlight of the festival is a grand open-air concert featuring maestro Neeme Järvi, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Estonian National Male Choir. The performance includes significant works from the repertoire of Tobias, Kapp, Eller, and Sibelius, which hold special meaning for the Estonian audience.
Chamber concerts with special and captivating repertoire form emotional touchpoints of the festival. These include Heldur Harry Põlda and Sten Heinoja‘s performance of Schubert’s song cycle “Die schöne Müllerin,” a romantic concert “Night Violin” featuring young musicians and a large string ensemble, and the vibrant interpretations of Sibelius and Tchaikovsky by the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, among others.
The Haapsalu Town Hall organizes popular strolls for holidaymakers and cultural-historical discussions, as well as night cinema sessions. The festival unites Haapsalu’s unique concert venues, including churches, the majestic castle courtyard, the concert hall, Uuemõisa Manor, as well as the promenade and the charming main street with its cafes and the fragrant atmosphere of a resort town.
