On August 27, 2021, 500 years will pass from the death of Josquin des Prez. He was the “magnificent virtuoso.” – a great composer – of Renaissance. A former celebrity, a composer who later fell into oblivion and was rediscovered in the 20th century, to whom the works of many other contemporary authors

have probably been attributed afterwards. Probably because, using his name, the publishers of his time managed to sell musical works better.

Des Prez is one of the most prolific composers of all time. His work ranges from the strict clerical polyphony to the rogue secular chansons and frottolas.
