A new piano concerto by Kirke Karja has been included in the program of the joint final concert of the Pärnu Concert Hall and the Pärnu City Orchestra. The piano soloist is Sten Heinoja, the winner of the TV competition “Classic Stars,” a brilliant representative of the younger generation of pianists. Kirke Karja is an active musician in the international jazz landscape, composer, and concert organizer. Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Eighth Symphony is a more chamber-style work, but with a dense structure and musical archetypes.
In addition to two new works of music, Dmitry Shostakovich’s “Suite for Variety Orchestra” offers a change of mood. One of the waltzes of the eight-part charming work gained worldwide fame when it sounded in Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut.”
