Komitas (Soghomon Soghomonjan 1869–1935) was an Armenian priest, composer, choir conductor, singer, music ethnologist and teacher. He is considered to be the founder of the Armenian national school of classical music. The liturgy “Patarag” by Komitas for male choir a cappella is a symbol of Armenian choral music.
