This opera, based on a true story, tells the story of the Mexican artists Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo and their relationsgip with Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky and his wife Natalia Sedova. The opera takes place in 1939–1940, the years of political turmoil in Mexico. In this story Leon Trotsky is presented not only as an elderly emigrant revolutionary but also a passionate lover.
