Concert series “Jazzical”
The concert will feature music from the recently released album “In Duo with Mihkel Mälgand” with added broader dimension with the airy layers of strings and vocals, mixed with tasteful electronic manipulations and beat elements.
The ensemble’s improvisational field is in symbiosis with electronic effects and soulful poetry. Musicians do not set themselves stylish limits; they combine elements of pop, folk, jazz, and even rock.
Kadri Voorand is a versatile vocalist, pianist, and composer whose passionate performance has received much acclaim both at home and abroad. Although she has recently focused mainly on her various solo programs and vocal ensemble Estonian Voices, her work has taken her seemingly from one extreme to another. She has performed as a soloist with many musicians both in Estonia and abroad and has produced seven albums, four of which have been recognized at the Estonian Music Awards. The latest album “In Duo with Mihkel Mälgand” was released on 28 February 2020 internationally by the record company ACT.
For the concert series “Jazzical” we have chosen a new series of classical music arrangements or performance ensembles with classical performers and instruments. This direction has a delicious and subtle sound image, wittily searching for a balance between jazz and classics and forcing you to think along the way to unusual soundscapes.
