Alongside his career as an internationally acclaimed cello soloist, Gautier Capuçon is deeply committed to mentoring young talent at his specialized Parisian masterclass, the Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle. On select occasions, Capuçon shares the stage with six of his finest students—all of whom have established credentials as international competition laureates—forming the ensemble Capucelli. This seven-member group was created to support the next generation of classical instrumentalists and project them onto major international stages.

Their repertoire features bespoke transcriptions of symphonic and operatic cornerstones, including Maurice Ravel’s „Boléro“, Giuseppe Verdi’s triumphal march from „Aida“, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers. In addition to these traditional favorites, the collective performs contemporary works commissioned specifically for them, such as Javier Martínez Campos’s „Fantaisie pour la Classe d’Excellence“. Their unified section playing and technical control are also documented on their self-titled debut album, released in the summer of 2024.

Given the members’ independent performance commitments, coordinated appearances remain rare, and touring with seven cellos presents considerable logistical challenges. This Estonian performance offers a unique opportunity to experience the ensemble live.
