Performers:
Mario Brunello (tšello, Itaalia)Programme:
Bach, Weinberg
Mario Brunello is considered to be an excellent cellist whose style of play can be characterised as being free, natural music-making. Brunello was the first Italian, in 1986, to win the Tchaikovsky competition. Thereafter, his activities as a soloist and chamber musician have been tightly entwined. He has cooperated with great conductors who are well-known across the world, such as Abbado, Gergijev, Ozawa, Pappano, and Koopman, and has performed alongside the best orchestras in the world. Mario Brunello has especially focused on playing the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Mario and I have a long-term creative friendship. We have made music together at several festivals, including the Dolomites Festival in the Italy. He is one of the most open musicians I know, someone who can interprete multiple styles. – Andres Mustonen
