Programme:
Lili Boulanger. Nocturne from “Two Pieces for Violin and Piano”

Olivier Messiaen. “Louange à l’Immortalité de Jésus”
Gabriel Fauré. Sonata no. 1 for violin and piano op. 13

This programme features music by influential French composers of the 20th century. Among them is the exceptionally gifted Lili Boulanger, who made a lasting impression on French music despite her short life. Her piece „Nocturne“ captures a dreamlike, twilight mood. The violin sonata by Belgian violin virtuoso and composer Eugène Ysaÿe is a technically demanding and clearly influenced by style of Johann Sebastian Bach. From Olivier Messiaen’s „Quartet for the End of Time“, the eighth movement, „Praise to the Eternity of Jesus“, offers a deeply spiritual and reflective experience. Audiences will also enjoy the lyrical melodies and lush harmonies of Gabriel Fauré’s first violin sonata.

I feel that this program, with its blend of melancholy, romance, and a touch of passion, allows me to express my versatility. The emotional depth of the chosen works is a perfect fit for a romantic summer evening at Kadriorg Palace.
