Join us for an evening of music—a chance to step away from the everyday and immerse yourself in the rich sounds of the guitar, spanning different eras and cultures.

The piece „Saudade“ takes its name from the Portuguese word for a deep, nostalgic longing for something lost or far away. Composer Roland Dyens captures this bittersweet emotion beautifully in his music. In contrast, „Levantine Suite“ by Dušan Bogdanović transports us to the eastern shores of the Mediterranean, where the vibrant musical traditions of the region come to life.

The programme offers a tribute to Spain, a nation renowned for its guitar tradition, presenting the music of guitarist and composer Eduardo Sainz de la Maza.  Zapateado, a Spanish dance, is known for its rapid tempo generated by the dancer’s rhythmic foot movements. The habanera, originating from Cuba, is a slow and sensual dance distinguished by its particular rhythmic pattern. Conversely, the rondeña is a vibrant and joyful folk dance and song.

The Estonian folk melody “Siidilipp ja hõbepurjed” has been given a fresh and individual interpretation through Helin Hallik’s arrangement. Her guitar setting of Mart Saar’s expressive composition “Elegy” brings forth the delicate essence of this emotive piece.

The output of British composer Stephen Goss frequently exhibits a humorous and diverse style – his “Cocktail List” is an amusing musical blend of flavors.
