Aapo Häkkinen (harpsichord)Now the long-serving art director at the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, Aapo Häkkinen’s path towards becoming a musician began as a choirboy in Helsinki Cathedral. Häkkinen has studied under the renowned early music gurus such as Bob van Asperen, Pierre Hantaï, and Gustav Leonhardt.
Häkkinen enjoys an international career on music stages as a soloist, ensemble member, and conductor, and has his own show which he hosts on Finland’s Radio Classic station. In addition to the harpsichord, Häkkinen also plays the organ, clavichord and fortepiano, while teaching classes at Sibelius Academy and giving other international master’s courses.
The rhythmical and defined sonatas of Scarlatti are rich in shades and nuances, and always serve as a real treat for a committed audience.
