Irina Zahharenkova is a standout figure in the Estonian music scene, known for delivering performances that are distinct and highly memorable. As one of the country’s most acclaimed instrumentalists, she has built an impressive profile by winning numerous international competitions, including first prizes at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig and the George Enescu International Competition in Bucharest. Her artistic contributions have been recognized with the Annual Prize of the Estonian Cultural Endowment for Music in 2005 and 2020, as well as the Estonian Music Council Prize in 2004.
Maintaining a demanding international schedule, the pianist appears frequently both as a soloist and in various chamber ensembles. This spring recital marks her return to the Romantic repertoire after a prolonged focus on Bach and Beethoven, bringing to the stage pivotal works by Rachmaninoff and Chopin. She remains a rare talent, showcasing equal mastery over the piano, harpsichord, and fortepiano.
