René Eespere’s author evening “Concert music for wind instruments”

Introduction

Performers:

Estonian Youth, Brass Orchestra, Wind Ensemble of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, conductors Aavo Ots and Jaan Ots, soloist Kerstin Laanemets (flute), Neeme Ots (trumpet). Also performing Duo Telluur: Heli Ernits (cor anglais) and Kirill Ogorodnikov (guitar), Tiia Tenno (organ).

Concert series “Festive Wind Sounds – Estonia 100” is a three-year long education and concert project organized by the Aavo Ots Music Studio where brass music by Estonian composers plays an important role.

The series started on July 8, 2016 at the Rudolfinum Dvořák Hall in Prague, where Estonian Youth Brass Orchestra performed Estonian music on the concert of the WASBE conference. This was followed by concerts in Amsterdam on April 29, 2017 on the Estonian music concert “Helivöö” and January 6, 2018 in the historic St John’s church in St Petersburg.

The main event of the series will be René Eespere’s author evening “Concert music for wind instruments” on March 4, 2018 at the Estonia Concert Hall. Estonian brass youth will perform his original pieces  – “Dies Festus”, “Beneventum”, “Tubilustria”, “Respectus” …
