Pekka Kuusisto is one of the most acclaimed Finnish violinists on the global stage, frequently appearing as a soloist with numerous orchestras while also taking on the role of conductor. He is well known for his spontaneous and fresh approach to programming, embracing diverse musical styles that range from classical repertoire to contemporary and experimental works. His performances are filled with highly vibrant energy. Kuusisto is a dedicated advocate for modern music and a skilled improviser, often sharing his wit and warmth as a folk music enthusiast. Alongside his solo career, he is active as a lecturer and a creator of musical events.

His appearance in Tallinn promises to be a unique occasion. As the programme features a significant selection of works by major Estonian composers, such as Pärt, Tubin, and Tüür, he acts as a cultural ambassador for the evening.

Kuusisto serves as the Artistic Director of the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Principal Guest Conductor and Artistic Co-Director of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen describes him as their finest artistic friend.

Pekka Kuusisto performs on the Antonio Stradivarius violin, “ex-Sandars”, Cremona 1695, generously loaned by the Anders Sveaas’ Charitable Foundation, ASAF.
