Graun/Bach. „Passion Pasticcio“

The Purcell Choir was founded in 1990 in Budapest by György Vashegyi for the performance of Purcell’s Baroque opera “Dido & Aeneas”. Few suspected at the time that the group was to become the most respected choir in Hungary. All the choir members are excellent professional singers, musicians and instrumentalists, and some of them are also members of other choirs and orchestras.

The core repertoire of the Purcell Choir ranges from works by Gesualdo to Mozart, but they also perform pieces by later composers.

For twenty years, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra’s performances and recordings have captivated audiences with their potent combination of emotional eloquence and infectious vitality. Their programmes frequently include first modern performances of unpublished or reconstructed masterpieces, and also shed unexpected and often provocative new light on more familiar works. Since 2003, the artistic director of the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra is harpsichord player and conductor Aapo Häkkinen.
