Hugo Ticciati is a Swedish-based violinist and conductor of English descent, standing out for his exceptionally wide-ranging interests in musical activity. Performing at Carnegie Hall, co-improvising with monks in India, creating innovative and conceptual concert programs for the O/Modernt festival initiated by Ticcitti – all speak to the musician’s desire to embrace all forms of creativity.

Ticciati is connected to Estonia by long-standing musical ties. He is the first performer of several works by Erkki-Sven Tüür and also a collaborator of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.

According to Ticciati, the programme follows the unique concept of the festival’s O/Modernt concerts, where during the performances the audience is thrown from the contemporaries to old music – finding similarities in different eras and styles, mixing the past, present, and possibly a future.

Hugo has a rare ability to convey a deep understanding of music and shed light on its spiritual meaning. – Arvo Pärt
