The Estonian String Instrument Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special concert presenting some of Estonia’s finest string players. These exceptional musicians will perform on rare and exquisite instruments.
This programme is all about iconic string repertoire. Richard Strauss’s “Metamorphosen” will be performed in its earliest sextet version. This composition serves as an elegy for a culture on the brink and a Europe ravaged by war, showcasing heavy, profound emotion, sophisticated harmonies, and a search for everlasting beauty and hope.
Heino Eller’s Five Pieces for String Orchestra showcases Nordic lyricism, impressionistic tonal colors and a meditative musical expression. Jaan Rääts’s youthful and rhythmically vibrant Concerto for Chamber Orchestra, composed in 1961, stands as a cornerstone of our modern Estonian music.
