This concert brings together two outstanding contemporary music ensembles. Ensemble U:, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, has the honor of hosting and performing with the legendary French Ensemble L’Itinéraire, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Founded in 1973 by composers Tristan Murail, Roger Tessier, Michaël Levinas, and Gérard Grisey with the support of Olivier Messiaen, the contemporary music ensemble L’Itinéraire has been one of the most authoritative collectives of new French music. The ensemble has presented a very diverse repertoire and has been involved in the creation and performance of major and fundamental works that follow the principles of spectral music. Ensemble L’Itinéraire has had hundreds of new works composed for it over the decades. However, Tristan Murail has remained their true resident composer, with his music being deeply understood by the ensemble.

It is worth noting that most of the pieces at the concert will be performed by musicians from both ensembles together, allowing them to share experiences and perhaps create an even more unique soundscape together.
