Called “poet of sound” and “keyboard wizard”, Pietro De Maria is the first Italian pianist to play all of Chopin’s piano works in six consecutive concerts, and later recorded all on 13 CDs of the British record label Decca Records (2006-2011). Next, De Maria undertook to record both sets of Bach’s “Well-Tempered Clavier” (Decca 2014), and this work received the highest marks in the industry’s leading magazine, International Piano, and earned a comparison with the legendary Edwin Fischer.

Academician De Maria, a member of the Santa Cecilia Academy of Music in Rome and a professor of piano at the Salzburg Mozarteum, will perform in Estonia for the first time and present a traditional classical-romantic solo programme with a selection of Chopin’s Scherzos and Ballades and Beethoven’s evergreen “Moonlight Sonata”.
