The architectural solution of St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice has played an essential role in the development of historical multi-choir music genre. In addition to the churches grand organ balcony there are balconies above the altar. Therefore, the singers and instrumentalists had enough space to perform and each balcony had its own composition of performers consisting of singers, instrumentalists, or both.
