Introduction

Hortus Musicus was performed in concert in 1972. The ensemble was founded upon the initiative of Andres Mustonen, violin student at the institution, which at the time was known as the Tallinn State Conservatoire. Hortus Musicus is the oldest continuously working ensemble in its field in Eastern Europe and one of the few of such longevity in the world. Hortus Musicus is classed mainly as an early music ensemble, but their peculiarity lies in a timeless, but not substantially distant, musical style.
