Tchaikovsky. Piano Concert No. 1 in B-flat minor, Opus 23; extracts from ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Eugene Onegin’; the 1812 Overture.

The gala night delights with a programme that is compiled of the audience’s favourite pieces. Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concert No 1 is a significant piece of music, which equally awes those who attend classical music concerts rarely and those who are devoted music-lovers, not to mention musicians. Performed by Russian orchestras, Tchaikovsky’s music is always especially special. The St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra consists of the leading forces of the orchestras of St Petersburg. The soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow and the Novaja Opera perform key scenes from ‘Eugene Onegin’, and amazing ballet music is played just as gracefully and brilliantly as at the fancy balls of the court of the time. The evening is closed with the imposing 1812 Overture.
