Music of Seven Cities Festival. Liisi Koikson and Joel Remmel

  • SA Eesti Kontsert

Liisi Koikson (vocal) and Joel Remmel (piano) have been making music together in different ensembles for years, and the musical contacts so far have inspired them to look for a characteristic sound also as a duo. The as yet unpublished creations have been brought out of the drawer and expressive pieces from the repertoire of the ensembles Genialists, Smiler, Apelsin and others are interpreted.

The keywords of the concert are beauty and peace. At a quick pace of life, it is important to take at least a moment off and allow the beautiful and thought-provoking texts to speak. The stage attitude of both artists has considered that important for years. Now they are searching for it together and invite the listeners along for the journey.

Liisi Koikson has been active in the Estonian music scene for over 20 years, being active in various genres through different groups and studies. In addition to solo projects, the singer participates in a project called Elletuse which is influenced by folk music, in the project Silent Monday prepared together with Ardo Ran Varres, and the program “Tribute to Veljo Tormis” created by Jaak Sooäär and Kadri Voorand. In addition, in the spring of 2017 Liisi released her new solo album, “Coffee for One,” which has been influenced by the three years the singer spent in London.

Joel Remmel is a pianist who has been active in the Estonian music scene for some ten years. During this time, he has collaborated with numerous artists from Estonia and abroad. The most consistent activity has been with the band, the Joel Remmel Trio, with whom four albums have been released during eight years of operation: “Snow Crystal”, “More Than Fishermen”, “Some Things Never Change” and “Sharp”. In addition to active interpreter life, Joel Remmel teaches at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater.
