“The Seven Tears”

Programme:
John Dowland. “7 Lacrimae” (1596), arranged by Erik Desimpelaere
Tõnu Kõrvits. ‘Driftwood Songs’ (2017, Estonian premiere)

A one-of-a-kind cooperation which alternates works composed in 16th century England and 21st century Estonia. The concert project of Estonia and Belgium combines early music from John Dowland, a new piece by Tõnu Kõrvits, and a video installation by Mark Raidpere that was created specifically for this project. The video combines seven different types of tears and seven different emotions. The joint project of Estonia and Belgium has already been performed at several notable Belgian festivals and arts
centres.

The concert is dedicated to the centenary of the Republic of Estonia
