Hungarian-born pianist Sir András Schiff is one of the most beloved artists of today’s classical concert venues. He regularly performs at the concert stages of the world’s major cities, and the number of albums recorded by him are awe-inspiring. Schiff has earned a great deal of recognition in the form of all kinds of awards, including a Grammy (1990), the Gramophone Award (1990 and 1991), and the International Classical Music Award (2012 and 2015). The fascinating fact is that the pianist performs only on his personal pianos and on the few instruments he has approved of and chooses a specific instrument for each concert depending on the repertoire. The pianos travel along Europe with his personal piano master according to his schedule. The piano used at the Tallinn Concert Pillar comes from the Vienna Philharmonic.
