Moving and exciting fairy tales that reach the viewer through music and word and sand paintings are extremely rare on concert stages.  Ravel’s colorful orchestration and bright characters tell a fairy tale in the language of music and create vivid images – the cycle includes “(Pavane of Sleeping Beauty,” “Little Tom Thumb,” “Little Ugly Girl, Empress of the Pagodas,” “Conversation of Beauty and the Beast” and “The Fairy Garden.”

Among the authors of fairy tales is also the well-known French children’s writer Charles Perrault, who is considered the creator of the literary fairy tale genre. Perrault’s best-known fairy tales are “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Knight Blue Beard.” One hundred years later, the brothers Grimm also used the work of Perrault in their collections of stories, and the stories also became a beloved plot of operas, ballets, and films.
