Russian romance reflects a lot of emotional nuances, fast shifting moods, and reveals the Russian soul in its full sensuousness. Each romance tells a touching story: encounters and divisions, honor and glory, delicacy and sincerity, love and passion, doubts and regrets. The music is complemented by the work of Russian poets, which is read in both Estonian and its original language.

Tamar Nugis finished his Master’s degree at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Taavi Tampuu’s singing class, improved himself at the Sibelius Academy under the direction of Annika Ollinkari and in different international masterclasses. He has performed several memorable roles in Theatre Vanemuine: Count Balduin Zeldau (Strauss „Wiener Blut“), Javert (Schoenberg/Boublil „Les Misérables“), Juhan (Lill „Tulleminek“), Ärni (Aints „Rehepapp“), and others. As a textually conscious singer, Tamar Nugis is increasingly being recognised as an oratorio soloist and Lied singer. He is a multi-faceted creative type, who, besides his academic musical career, has also been in a rock band and in a dance play and is also active as a songwriter. In the Russian romance programme, he shares the stage with his creative partners, pianist Ilana Lode and actor Kärt Tammjärv.
