Festival TubIN 2022

Festival TubIN 6-9 October in Tartu
Artistic director Mihhail Gerts

The TubIN 2022 festival, held between 6-9 October in Tartu, will see musical performances which contain incredible stories of how music works came to be along with a heady dose of exceptional persuasiveness. The festival is focused on symphonies Nos 5 and 6 by Eduard Tubin, and on topics which are related to these two great works, regarding the future of mankind and a return to the folk music of one’s own country. The festival’s opening concert is inspired by the novels of a companion and friend of Tubin, August Gailit, with Paul Hindemith’s rarely pperformed concerto for viola and orchestra with Liisa Randalu as the soloist. The festival includes discussion circles and concerts which are hosted by Joonas Hellerma, with exceptional pieces of chamber music being accompanied by discussions on issues covering the meaning and importance of the present day which Tubin worked on throughout his life.

The programme is available on the Eesti Kontsert website at: www.concert.ee.
