Introduction

Programme:
Ludwig van Beethoven
Sonata no. 27 in E-Minor, op. 90
Sonata no. 30 in E-Major, op.109
Sonata no. 29, op. 106 (“Hammerklavier”)

Yeol Eum Son began his piano studies at the age of three and a half, and made his breakthrough in major play in 2004 when he was only eighteen years old when he performed as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lorin Maazel. In the same year, he also recorded both opuses of Etudes by Chopin for the record company “Universal”. Today, he has become one of the busiest artists of his generation, who has in the last few seasons been performing across the entire world – from Buenos Aires to Vladivostok, and from Abu Dhabi to Falun in Sweden. He is a brilliant virtuoso whose playing has a rare balance between enormous kinetic energy and substantial gravity.
